The interview was on the next day and they asked us to come by 10 for interview.. But I was interviewed around 430 PM and I was already frustrated.. So as usual the first question was tell me about yourself and the next question was why ece and unfortunately I didn't prepare for that question.. So the first thing that popped into my mind was Sujatha sir.. So I just told that he is my inspiration and so and so(Never ever say you're inspired by someone to take ece unless you're really inspired).. Her next question was have you done any paper presentation and I said no.. She asked you've taken ECE with such interest and why you haven't done any paper presentation.. Then I told her how tough is ece.. She moved to next question and asked about my project and I explained and then she asked me why IT field and I told.. Then she said the interview is over and I shook hands and left.. This was my worst interview ever I thought.. Verdict : I got selected..

Infosys Systems engineer interview

Application
I was interviewed on-campus for Systems engineer role at Infosys
Interview Process
Test HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
70 Minutes
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Reasoning / Analytical
  • Section 2: Verbal English
Interview Experience
The test comprised two sections-one logical reasoning section and one english section. Each has its own time limit. For logical reasoning you need to be a little quick on your logic. The questions will be pretty simple and anyone doing a reasonable amount of preparation for CAT or GRE can easily go through. For english, stress was given more on correcting sentences. No synonyms or antonyms were asked. If you are intuitively good in high school english, this should be a cake walk.Else practice very basic english. Few questions were very tricky and in one of the questions ,3 options had an answer starting with a capital letter and only 1 with a small letter. The trick is that the answer is a part of a sentence and hence it cannot start with a capital letter.
Interview Tips
Be very careful and my personal suggestion is don't do the passages first. You will waste a lot of time there.
Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
The interview was for around 15 minutes .But I had to wait for nearly 8 hours for my turn. I got in and the old man siting in his chair stood up and shook hands with me. He asked about my father and my brother. Then he asked why IT when u have chemical. I said I was interested in IT profession. Then he asked are you not depriving someone of an opportunity who is interested in chemical. I said I gave my preference to the college while joining and was not bothered about branch. The argument went on for around 3-4 minutes. I stood by my answer and it seemed to impress him.He asked a memorable incident and i told him about Golden jubilee night andmy tenure as DND secretary and how i could take a decision democratically in a decisive situation (DND members should be knowing this..October 9th). Then he asked me how i would organise a national level cultural fest.Since I had organised spring spree events, that experience helped me a lot. In fact the experience as secretary proved its worth in the interview. Then he stood up again and shook my hands again ,remember this is a sort of stress analysis. He is actually checking how confident you are before and after the interview.
Interview Tips
While you are there in the interview keep talking about team building skills and leadership qualities you possess and practical examples if you can cite any. Be cool and confident and dont get shaken by their questions, remember theyare always testing you. If you are serious about the job, don't tell them that you are preparing for CAT or GRE. It is definitely not difficult to crack the interview if you are a little careful and confident.ALL THE BEST.

Test Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

No. of Questions
75 questions
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Quantitative
  • Section 2: Reasoning/Analytical
  • Section 3: Verbal English
Interview Experience
In quantitative aptitude i dont remember the questing exactly but alsomost all questings are similer to the questions in RS Agarwaal.. In reasoning and analytical section they will ask puzzles and if u read shakuntala devi and jimmers puzzle book it is more than sufficient.. In verbal section they have given around 2 passages and 5 questions for each passage dont waste more time in this section because it is time consuming.. they have given some fill in the blanks questions where we have to search for synonyms and antonyms No technical section was there
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Basically i am from Mechanical back ground they dint asked any questions related to software.... They asked questions like how do you update your self regarding your technical knowledge... have you thought of any innovative ideas recent past..
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
In HR they asked 2 situation reaction tests. 1)she asked my hobbies and replied playing cricket... she posed a question to me that if i was appointed as cricket team captain for M-Tech mech team how i select my team.... i answered purely by performance no partiality like that.. but she asked to think more then she answered for the questions as... I alone cannot select the team because in M-Tech there may be more that 500 students so i have to take help from some of my friends and this shows attitude towards team work.... 2) She asked one more question like if i am a boss and there are 5 peoples working under me.. my boss given me one work that has to be completed in with in a month... now it is the last day of month and still 25% of work is remaining how i handle that situation... I answered that I will answer to the boss that from next time i will finish 1 months work in 20 days itself so that we will not be facing this kind of problems next time.. then she told ok....
General Tips
Infosys recruitment wont concentrate too much on technical side... they concentrate on logical and analytical thinking and situation reactions etc... so go through puzzles from shankuntala devi and jimmers... and some analytical and logical sections from RS agarwaal

Dont concentrate on technical questions because they wont ask any technical questions... you must prepare well for the written test and Interview will depend on your logical and analytical thinking and situation reactions.. all the best.. hope i will see you in Infosys next year....

Test HR Interview Technical Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
75 Minutes
No. of Questions
70 questions
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Aptitude
  • Section 2: Reasoning
  • Section 3: Verbal
Interview Experience
In aptitude test there was sectional cut-off, reasoning paper was easy and the verbal one was average but the main problem was sectional cut-off which I think was high so be accurate and attempt a lot (there was no negative marking). Also just don’t go for fluke like marking all B’s.

Reasoning Section:
5 ques on Odd one out(figure detection)(again easy) 5 ques on Data Interpretation(average) 2 ques on Puzzle(each having 5 questions)(not so easy) 5 ques on positions(a bit difficult and time taking) 5 ques on Syllogism(need practice)

Verbal Section:
Two passages and 5 question from each passages(Do it at the last as passages are lengthy and time taking. Also before reading the passage see the question once and collect words while reading Q) Sentence Correction(Be careful about tense mistake, spelling mistake, using of pronoun… My opinion mark the option which clicks you first and don’t waste too much time on this part..) Fill in the Blanks(These were mostly prepositions and using appropriate words) Theme Detection Identification of some supporting or weakening sentences about a paragraph given. Just prepare well for online aptitude test as interview is an easy part(in case of Infosys I should say as they select aprroximately 90% of students who had cleared the aptitude)
Interview Tips
1. Even if you are going for fluke then also do it smartly because I think they even checked that.
2. Time management is very important in Verbal Section.
Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
It was not a stress panel and it was an one to one interview.

HR was cool and polite. In HR, a lady was in front of me. She asked for CV and i gave it to her.

All questions were from my CV, asked me about my achievements and all. She asked me to give an example of my leadership quality…and a bit of questions on my hobbies. Then the last question was how do I plan before my exams?
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
There was a gentleman in front of me. He introduced himself very nicely. Then he asked me to tell about myself as a general question. Then some questions from CV and then switch to technical part. Heasked me from linked list, array, pointer, pillars of Java, asked me to write code to find prime numbers, and code to factorial of a number. Then he asked why I wanna join IT. Then asked me to gave an example where I supposed to help my team technically. He was just testing my confidence level and my attitude…then asked me about relocation and checked my dedication towards my work..he was convinced with my answers… I felt that all that is needed is positive attitude..I was just thinking to give my best…and trying to show myself as I am… I noticed that no matter how well we are preparing for hr questions, if I am really good and have a positive attitude then none of my answers can be such bad rather they must be impressed by myself…and even if my communication is not that good but the words which I have used to keep myself in front of them was really very impressive…I was very very confident…and one more thing I have to walk about 2-3 mins to reach the interviewer desk…and they noticed my movement whether I am nervous or not…and I think it also matters……overall at was a nice experience.
