Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
I had sent my resume to the hiring group, Selection through telephonic interviews. I was interviewed by three different research groups  (once by each).
Interview Tips
Factors in decreasing order of importance: CGPA each stage. Ability to explain your projects precisely. Ability to solve ''standard" logarithmic problems.  The way you think and put down your Answer is the most important. The final answer .s not so I important, and they prod you when you think out aloud anyway.
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Almost- by default they ask about your previous projects/internships if they are relevant to the group. Ofher questions depend on the group you are interviewed by and your own profile, In my case it was machine learning, text mining etc. I was told about the research problem they were dealing with then and asked f or comments/suggestions/.inputs and a discussion followed.
Interview Tips
Basically these are specialized Interviews so it's good to have sound knowledge of your domain (analytical and application skills are very much required).
Skills

Skills Tested

Skill Tips
CGPA>9.0, 1f not (like me) relevant work done in the domain and in past internship.A recommendation from the professor is also a good add on.

We were given a paper which had 3 sections- mental ability, series and quant.Around 100 were selected from this round..Next we had a coding paper where we had to understand the code and give the output or what error.Altogether 38 were selected for 2 profiles- regular and extreme blue. Then each of the 38 candidates were interviewed and finally 9 were selected 7 for extreme blue and 2 for regular.
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
I had an interview for about 1 and a half hour..I had a shaky start, with me fumbling in the very basic questions of c,c++,os.  But i was quick to realize my mistake. Then the interviewer asked me how to get all possible combinations of a given string. I gave him a solution. He asked to take a different path.I gave him a solution in that path, then I gave many more. Not all of them were correct, only 1 or 2 were concrete. Others were just ideas in all possible directionsI don't know what impressed him but i got the internship opportunity and that too extreme blue. There was not much stress on HR round.
General Tips
As a matter of fact regular interns generally dont get a ppo, and if you happen to read this before the holidays, remember that you do not need to work extra hours. Make preparation for placements as your priority. They don't expect you to work that hard and will give ppo in most cases.
