Interview Tips
The first test needs no special material to prepare. You need to be quick in solving the simple mathematical problems. There is no negative marking in this test.
Round 3

Interview

Interview Experience
2 stress interviews. There was no HR round as such, but we were given a sheet to fill containing all HR questions prior to the personal interviews. There were interview questions based on the answers I gave in this sheet. Both the interviews were stress interviews. There was no much difference in the two rounds. I had guesstimates, in both rounds. There was also a small session of quant question's.
Interview Tips
I have got a lot of interview fundaes from seniors and also saw many videos regarding it.

Skill Tips
There was a constant smile on my face all through my interview period. I did not loose my confidence levels, even though I had made few mistakes in my interview. All that you have to show them is that you were able to handle pressure and react properly, even in stressful conditions. My scores in both the tests were just decent. I feel, I made it through, just because of my performance in both the interviews.
Resources

Preparation materials

Books
  • CAT preparation ,
  • Kalpakjian for manufacturing book ,
General Tips
Core or Non-core you need to have basic fundaes regarding the other. You never know where you gonna end up.
I started my core preparation, one n half month before the placement season.Starting the preparation earlier could've brought NO change in my case but it would surely be helpful.

There was no preparation for non-core in particular. I went through thebasics of trading (required for FUTURES FIRST) just 2 days before the interview.

I went through the GATE book for my core preparation. I prepared basic subjects in every area i.e.; design, manufacturing and thermal. I studied chapters like TD, SOM from GATE book, and referred kalpakjian for
manufacturing.

Even if you are aspiring for one among the core or the non-core job, you need to have basic fundaes regarding the other. You never know, where you gonna end up.

Futures First MARKET ANALYST interview

AnonymousFresherSelected
Application
I was interviewed on-campus for MARKET ANALYST role at Futures First
Interview Process
Test HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Interview Experience
There were two rounds of written test.
Round 1: 5 minute test based on mathematical calculations
Round 2: 30 minute test based quantitative ability and data Interpretation skills
Their sole purpose was to know whether you are capable of handling mathematical calculations easily and quickly. You just need to practice lots of multiplication, division and other simple stuff so that you become quick during the test.
Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
The HR interview was a very different experience for me. I felt that they were looking for a guy who would fit best in their culture and has the ability not only to take risks but also assess it and mitigate it.

Some of the HR questions that were asked to were:-

Choose between Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose. I personally, would advise you to go for Mahatma Gandhi. If you go for Bose, they will reject you saying that you have a violent side to your personality which of course is not good for them.
What would you do if you were given 1 lakh and were told to jump off the first floor? 5 lakh for the 2nd floor? 10 for the 3rd floor?
Assess the risk in every situation and then using your reasoning, give the answer. I answered that for the amount of money involved i would jump off the 1st and 2nd floors but not the 3rd floor. At maximum I would break my bones or suffer a few fractures which is good enough for the money.

I give you 5 lakhs right now. Go and kiss the girl standing outside. Will you take the risk?
I said yes I will. She will slap me on the face or maybe get a complaint registered against me with the Dean. It will be a fair deal for the money involved.

Calculate 1292 within 15 seconds (without the pen of course).
657*53 within 15 seconds (again without the pen).
The interviewer asked me the length of the room. I said that it was around 18 feet. He asked me to convince him of the same.
I said, "Sir, my height is about 6 feet. So if I lie down 3 times along the length that should be enough reason for you to get convinced”. So I lied down on the floor along the length of the room thrice.

Besides this they also asked me some HR questions like why should we hire you, what are your goals and why are you suitable for the company. There were few other HR questions as well which were not so different form the regular ones.

Overall it was a very good interview experience. They were looking for people who can take risks and were not hesitant to take an initiative and then back their decision with sound thought process.

    Duration
    29 Minutes
    No. of Questions
    75 questions
    Test Sections
    • Section 1: Written Round: 75 questions in 29 minutes
    Interview Experience
I have a fetish for numbers. So, rather than a month long preparation, requisite effort was there for quite some time and a brief stint with Vedic Maths formulae sufficed. One can always start with the Vedic Math channels in YouTube
    Round 2

    Group Discussion

    Interview Experience
    There were no GD
    Round 3

    Technical Interview

    Interview Experience
In the 1st round of interview, the interviewer asked question primarily based on my CV and the form they had asked us to fill up right before the interview
    Round 4

    Stress Interview

    Interview Experience
The 2nd round was basically, a stress interview. They test you by asking to multiply numbers in your head, in let’s say, 10 seconds. Or by giving you fictional scenarios.
    Interview Tips
I was in touch with our seniors in the company, who had suggested that, a brief idea about trading and markets would help. I have been following Investopedia for quite
some months. Also, I have been following YouTube channels of Lex Van Dam et al, to know about high pressured trading environments. Ultimately, they were quite helpful
and if you really have interest in knowing these things, you will enjoy the entire prep process

      General Tips
I had no interest for going into any of the Core companies. So, I had made up my mind to go into anything but Core or IT. And after going through Futures First job profile and the reviews of some of our alumni placed in the company, it was one company that I was hoping for. So, yes, I am satisfied.
      Motivation for applying
Getting placed is more luck than anything else. But, a bit of preparation can always come in handy. I would suggest a constant study of the current happenings in the business world. Reading newspapers and books or following blogs can be of great help. For this company in particular, practicing speed maths is a must as some of us faced questions of 3-digit and 2-digit multiplication to be answered without pen and paper within, 10 seconds. Stay calm for interview, because the key, ultimately, is confidence. Just remember, no one gets anything more than one deserves and before the scheduled time. So, deserve, desire and chill.

Resume Shortlist Test Technical Interview HR Interview
      Round 1

      Resume Shortlist

      Interview Experience
No CGPA criteria. One must be interested in finance, especially trading.
      Round 2

      Test

      Interview Experience
There are two stages of written tests.
      Round 3

      Technical Interview

      Interview Experience
The company gave a form to be filled by all the candidates just before the start of interviews. A few questions will be based on the answers one provides in the form. The form contained fields for all the academic information and around 20 short HR questions to be answered in 2-3 lines each. Again arithmetic ability is tested extensively in this round also. One should also be good with guesstimates. Examples include questions like 58*32, 5th root of .32768. Be confident of your answer.
      Round 4

      HR Interview

      Interview Experience
This was mostly an HR based interview. Questions based on CV (POR and intern especially) were also asked. Prepare for some basic HR questions. Show some enthusiasm while answering questions.
      Skills

      Skills Tested

      • Strong arithmetic skills
      • quantitative aptitude
      Skill Tips
These skills are tested extensively in the second written test and also in the interview. Math ability of the student plays a very important role in the selection process. CAT preparation would be good enough for the second written test. If you are serious about the company, start learning vedic maths or work on your arithmetic skills. Go through Investopedia for some finance related funda. Also, Futures First will start an online game called “Trade Moghul” sometime in August, so if you play that game and end up in the top 100 countrywide, you directly get an interview call.

          • "Options, Futures and Derivatives" by John Hull,
          General Tips
If you are serious about the company, start following the markets, if possible do some online trading. Take up the Financial Engineering course offered by the Industrial Engineering Department in the Autumn Semester. Read the first chapter of John Hull Book thoroughly the night before the interviews.
Start preparing for the Quant questions early on, as they will not be easy. Also, to clear the first round of test, you need pretty decent Arithmetic skills, so start practicing some quick methods to solve multiplication problems.
Also, Futures First will start an online game called "Trade Moghul" sometime in August, so if you play that game and be in the Top 500 countrywide, you directly get an Interview call, basically you skip the first two tests and sit for the interviews directly.
However, be cautious, they come prepared with the record of all your transactions in the game, and will ask you about your strategies used to play the game.
Last piece of advice : the job is very demanding with the work timings being 11 AM to 10 PM and also extremely risky. The rate of firing of the company is pretty high, with less than 50 % of recruits making it to the second year of employment.
However the benefits moneywise are no doubt tremendous, with the Bonus package increasing exponentially each year.
So if you think you want to enter this competitive sector, only then sit for the interviews, otherwise, pursue a career someplace safe.

          Interview Tips
Don’t stick on to one single question which you are unable to solve. You need to complete it as quick as possible.

I prepared for Quant for about 10 days before the placements. But I think it would be better if one starts preparing much much earlier.
          Round 2

          Other Interview

          Interview Questions
          • Question 1: Who is the President of UK?
          • Question 2: President of Russia?
          • Question 3: New CM of Tamil Nadu?
          • Question 4: What is the Square root of 9?
          • Question 5: Square root of 32?
          • Question 6: Floor area of the room?
          • Question 7: Do you smoke?
          • Question 8: Do you have a girlfriend?
          Interview Experience
For me there were 3 rounds. All the 3 rounds went on the same note for me. They were constantly asking random questions. All you need to do is keep smiling and answer them properly. You can just say to all the questions he asks as “No idea sir”. There is nothing like you should be answering all his questions correctly.

In my 2nd round, he went through my resume. So you need to be very clear about what you wrote in the resume. You should not fake it as they will shoot many quick questions the moment you start to cup.
          Interview Tips
I answered most of the questions with a pleasant smile. One should not worry about their facial expressions and panic.
