Interview Process
Resume Shortlist Case Study Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Tips
An FMCG intern certainly helps! Try to diversify your profile as much as possible, while maintaining a good GPA (cannot stress enough on this fact).
Round 2

Case Study Interview

Interview Experience
First case interview is certainly nerve-wracking. And if the interviewer decides to give you a hard time (often happens), the most important thing is to not lose your cool.
Interview Tips
Practice makes a man perfect. I practiced more than 30 cases myself in addition to the many I observed as a spectator. However, the cases which you face on Placement Day are bound to be different from what you practice. Often, you are left with no framework to work with.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
Most HR interviews I faced focused on my CV.
Interview Tips
Keep calm, and know your CV inside out! Be prepared to be grilled on every aspect.

Application
I was interviewed on-campus at NIT Surathkal for Business technology analyst role at Deloitte
Interview Process
Test Case Study Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Test Sections
  • Section 1: Initial online aptitude and coding test.
Interview Experience
Apti is really easy so don’t sweat it. The initial Apti round was kindergarten level. There wasn’t any level of difficulty.
Round 2

Case Study Interview

Interview Experience
The case study messed everyone in the room. No matter what we talked about the moderator said we weren't talking relevant. Finally, some of us focused on familiar ground of technology aspects and were able to somehow satisfy her with our answer.(our topic was to look for a company to outsource a customer relation management center)
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
The final interview is just to find out whether you will ditch the company or not. Just show them some talents, speak well and say you will not go for higher education and you will be in. I told the main HR guy that I wanted to use the company to do a sponsored MBA. That pissed him off. He didn’t say anything, but I know it did.
Interview Tips
Don’t breathe a word about higher education even if they support it. Say you want to work for
a while and then go for it.
Skills

    General Tips
In the interview, I told him I was an artist but ended up drawing a shitty picture of the Mahatma so he thought I was a liar. Go through what Deloitte does and its competitors. Do NOT join the company if you think the compensation is less than you deserve. There will be better companies.

    Round 1

    Case Study Interview

    Interview Questions
    • Question 1: An auto after sales company is not doing well. It has been found that their supply chain solution might not be very effective. They are considering 2 more options in redesigning their supply chain. Should they change their SC or not?
    Interview Experience
The interviewer gave me the question and asked me to take a couple of minutes and asked me to write down the various factors that I should consider. I broadly asked about the existing supply chain details, various cost details, customer details.I made 3columns in the sheet of paper that was given to me . I wrote down the 3 categories and started listing down factors. After I asked him about the cost details and questions about the existing supply chain (How many distribution centers, distance to dealersfrom DC/facility etc. etc.), I was handed a sheet with all the information.
    Interview Tips
The ultimate game was to figure out which supply chain option led to the highest profits. The way to go was to figure out costs and revenues for each optionand recommend one. 1. Be very structured. I was informed that what you write on the paper, how you write are looked at by the recruiter.2. Don't ask all the questions at a stretch. Give the big picture of what you are trying to do and then list down howyou plan to do and then start asking questions.3. Be prepared for some number crunching. Nothing tough but basic quantitative analysis will be needed. You will be expected to be good with arithmetic

      Interview Questions
      • Question 1: Tell me something about yourself?
      • Question 2: why consulting
      • Question 3: About a project on wireless communications
      Interview Experience
Nokia is currently the leader in the market for mobile phones in India. Motorola is far behind it and wants to increase its market share by around 10%. Give three suggestions for doing the same.

I started off by asking about the price segments in which the mobile phones are sold. These were sold in all categories from low price to the very expensive ones. Then I inquired if the features available in similarly priced models of other cos differed but the answer was no.
So basically price was not the issue.
Then i inquired if the expenditure on advertising was comparable to the other cos to which the answer was yes..
I suggested that probably the people were skeptical about certain features of the mobile sets, like their durability wtc. upon which the company never focused in advertisements. So probably a survey could be conducted to find if there is anything particular that the people are skeptical about.
Also the company could have a tie-up with CDMA vendors like reliance or TATA Indicom, where the mobile sets are provided along with the connection.
      Interview Tips
You should be thorough with your resume and study the sectors related to your past projects pretty well.

      Case Study Interview

      Interview Questions
      • Question 1: case
      Interview Experience
The case was about a cable box making company that had to decide if they should go for outsourcing or continue manufacturing in house. Profit and sales figures for the last 2 years and expected figures for the next 2 years were given. All aspects of the case were to be explored. You are expected to “think out loud” and talk about everything that might be of importance in making a decision for the company. And it helps to be structured in your thoughts. For example, when you talk about outsourcing, talk about how its going to impact your costs, what kind of costs (fixed/ variable) and how, what will you do with the facility that was earlier being used for inhouse manufacturing, etc.
Do the same for the other options. Any approach to solve the case is fine as long as you cover all aspects in a structured manner. I was guided well by the interviewer- If he saw me getting stuck somewhere in the case, he would start a discussion to get my mind
      General Tips
      Prepare HR well.

Practice some cases to build a structured approach to solving them

Be confident when you talk about your CV. Shows that you know where you come from and what you want.
