Group Discussion Puzzle interview TECHNICAL INTERVIEW
Round 1

Group Discussion

Group Discussion Topic
Entrepreneurship in India
Interview Experience
The process started on 30th night with the GD for Credit Suisse. It was in groups of 8, duration 10 mins, the topics were common knowledge like entrepreneurship in India, FDI etc and though knowing and reading current news would be an advantage, but nevertheless you can do good with good presence of mind. My group’s topic was entrepreneurship in India and I knew nothing about it. Initially I was worried that I would not have anything to speak. But during the course of the discussion, lots of ideas kept coming to me as people started speaking randomly on the topic. Though I could speak only 2-3 times in the discussion but I made sure that I had substantive points and that I was clearly stating them. I think that was what got me through it.
Round 2

Puzzle interview

Interview Experience
In their 1st, they asked the same beginning questions on resume, spent some time on my intern work moving on to 2 puzzles and then end. It was short and went really well according to me. Therefore, probably, I was directly forwarded for a 2nd round.
Round 3

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW

Interview Experience
This was a bit more technical one and seeing my intern and background in economics, they asked me questions on financial markets, current policies etc. I tried to answer some but was blank for a couple of questions as I had not prepared at all for finance.

Resume Shortlist Group Discussion HR Interview
Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
Make your resume neat and tidy, of length one page. Use the right words and make sure to get it checked by seniors. Orient your resume based on the profiles being offered. Highlight things like business plans, industry-defined problems, projects in optimisation and data modelling in your resume. This is because many companies have a so-called 'HOTLIST' of students that they definitely want to interview based on resume.
Round 2

Group Discussion

Interview Tips
3/4 people from each GD group were listed down on their hotlist based on their performance in the GD. Take mock GDs and build on your confidence.  It is important to make clear points and not be very generic, along with not interfering while others are talking. Be polite as well as confident. Listen to others while the discussion is happening and be mindful of how you interact with people.Quoting instances may give you extra credits.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Tips
There could be a third round after you're selected and they want to know more about you.  Take mock interviews. Make sure you are honest throughout the interview stage. While talking about your weaknesses, make sure to tell them about how you're trying to overcome them. Firstly, have weaknesses to talk about!

Group Discussion HR Interview
Round 1

Group Discussion

Interview Experience
The group discussion of Credit Suisse was held on the same date as the interview. In each group, they were monitoring the students, and were hotlisting some students based on their GD performance. Try to raise unique and novel points, and articulate the points clearly, to get hotlisted. Taking up mock GDs seriously is very important.
Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
The interview was of two rounds. In the first round, HR questions and puzzles were asked, and the second round was exclusively a HR round.
Resources

Preparation materials

Books
  • 64 HR questions ,
General Tips
A lot of these companies prepare a ‘hotlist’, a list of students who they want to interview more thoroughly than the rest. So if the resume is impressive, there is a good chance of getting a higher preference, hence you could end up with a job offer instead of a waitlist.

Round 1

interview

Interview Experience
I had my interview scheduled at 11 am but I got a call from the volunteer at 9am for the interview. When I reached there, they had already selected 3 students and 1 other had his 3rd or 4th round going on. I was called in and after some questions on my resume and 2-3 small puzzles it was over. Then they told me that I had no more rounds. So my interview with CS was just a formality and I didn’t care because I anyway didn’t want to join it.
Interview Tips
If you are really targeting CS, try to schedule your interview earlier by talking to the volunteer (interviews start from 6 am) or go to the interview spot as early as possible and request them to take yours earlier. This would show your interest in their company and also you’ll have a better chance (than I had) if you are good.
