Application
I was interviewed on-campus at NIT Warangal for Cognizant
Interview Process
Test Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
180 Minutes
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Aptitude Test
  • Section 2: Quantitative
  • Section 3: Reasoning / Analytical
  • Section 4: Verbal English
Interview Experience
The test was conducted by MeritTrac , chk out its site and see their papers.
In verbal english , they asked pretty simple questions like choose the CORRECT/INCORRECT sentences from the given set of 4 statements . Apart from this there were Passage-based questions and arranging the given (jumbled up ) sentences to form a meaningful paragraph .
In quant section , pretty simple questions ( basic maths ) were asked , but considering the time factor they were very quite a lot , so speed up your problem-solving approach .
In logical reasoning , they asked CAT format questions ( relations / sets / etc )
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
They clearly stated in the PPT itself that candidates would b judged on : presence of mind , speech clarity , thought clarity and attire ( so don't b casual in your outlook .. ) For me , they asked me : Tell me about yourself , then what was the last movie you watched .. narrate its story , and then in between they would ask me technical questions and ask me to continue from where i left the story . Bottom line : Be confident in your speech and don't let the interviewer have an edge over you , these small companies just see the amount of confidence you possess .
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
This was integrated with the technical interview . They asked : if i give you a proj tht is sure to exceed the deadline would you take charge of it .. and blah blah ... and questions like .. if i sent you here on a project , would you haver any problems were also put up, tell them " it doesnt matter as long as it takes you carrier path spiraling up " PERIOD

Test Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
140 Minutes
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Aptitude Test
  • Section 2: Quantitative
  • Section 3: Reasoning / Analytical
  • Section 4: Verbal English
Interview Experience
Quantitative was normal puzzle kinda questions with some given conditions u need to solve the puzzle. There were some questions on codes too like if health is GTLXRG then what is HOUSE etc. Verbal was pretty tough, not the normal IT kinda simple verbal. Sentence correction questions, reading comprehension same as the ones in CAT/GRE. Don't waste much time on the "choose the correct explanation questions". Some questions also of the reason and logic type. Analytical section was the most easiest ever for me and could complete it in just over 5 min. Try to answer all questions. Guessing in the last same as eamcet and no negative marking.
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: What is a process in OS?
  • Question 2: What's the difference btw thread and task?
  • Question 3: What is flowsheet?
  • Question 4: What is the difference between while, repeat and until loops?
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Tell about yourself
  • Question 2: What do u want to do by joining cognizant?
Interview Experience
Was good overall. Though didn't do the technical part well(the interview was suppose only to be HR), was sure that HR part could get me through. The interviewer was very cool and tried to create a friendly environment with me.

Skill Tips
Don't try to write anything in your resume which you are not sure of!!! Mainly any thing related to your software skills. Mention only the areas which u are completely aware of. More importantly, if you don't know any answer, just don't answer. its better being silent than just committing a blunder.

Cognizant interview

Interview Process
Test HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Interview Experience
I went in for this company thinking that this would be my back-up option, but I was in for a huge surprise!
The test conducted was the weirdest one I have ever given, completely unexpected. It was mainly on English and Logical Reasoning, with about 4 questions from Data Interpretation. Compared to the paper set for the previous batch, it was tough.
Anyway, after being selected for the interview (surprise surprise)
Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
They asked me 2 basic questions-
1. What is your main goal in life?
2. How do you plan to achieve this through Cognizant?
Interview Tips
I knew that all I had to portray was confidence. My advice - when you walk into ur interview, be bold, go shake hands with the guy, not many people expect it (this i realised during cognizant placement process). But yeah, don't speak crap, keep in mind that whatever you say makes sense.
When you talk about your goals, don't keep the interviewer in a loop, make your points clear and short. It shows that you know what you want and that you're focused. And whatever questions he asks, answer them! Don't say - 'Oh, I don't know'. For example: If he asks you the last book you read, don't say 'I don't read books' or 'I don't remember', it creates a negative effect. They want to see ur social side too! They need to see you have good communication skills. Hence, you need to reply back, even if u say it was some text book or some comic book. You need to show ur interested in talking to them. And don't get bummed out if u can't answer one or two questions, keep the confidence alive! And keep smiling smile emoticonPS - My personal advice to all core branch students - Please go for mass recruiters and reach the 85% barrier asap! It really helps other students alot! Don't ever consider any company beneath you!All the best smile emoticon
