Application
I was interviewed on-campus at IIT Madras for Get ( graduate engineer trainee ) role at Bajaj Auto
Interview Process
Test Technical + HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Test Sections
  • Section 1: Aptitude
  • Section 2: Technical
Interview Experience
Technical questions were based on IC engines, dome, strength of materials and few questions related to turbo-machines. Basically they covered almost every core topic. They are not based on bookish knowledge rather questions were related to practical applications.
Aptitude- this part is very important and is the deciding round. Try to score as high as possible in this section.
Interview Tips
Practice aptitude, pariksha tests will serve the purpose.
Technical- apart from brushing all your core concepts, also go through sample mechanical engineering test questions on internet.
Round 2

Technical + HR Interview

Interview Experience
Interview was completely technical. They asked me what were my projects and internships and which was the favorite one. Make sure u know everything about your project/internship. If it is IC Engines related they will grill u on that. Mine were on heat transfer (jet impingement cooling) and turbomachines. They asked me to explain about them.

They asked me about the ic engines lab experiment which was on emissions and asked me to draw the emission characteristics (co, Hc, NOx).
Other questions were related to porous media (my Btech project), cruising and idling conditions and air/fuel ratios, emission norms in India etc
Interview Tips
Make sure in every explanation u give u should highlight the R&D aspect of it. They were particularly looking for people interested in R&D.
Brush all the core topics, especially IC engines. If you did any work related to ic engines they will ask u on that, else they will test your subject knowledge.
Also learn something about the latest technologies in automobiles and how bajaj contributed to them.

Bajaj Auto interview

Kumar ParijatFresherSelected
Application
I was interviewed on-campus at NIT Rourkela for Bajaj Auto
Interview Process
Test Group Discussion HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Test Sections
  • Section 1: There were 2 levels- Written and PI (PERSONAL INTERVIEW)
Interview Experience
I concentrated more on Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal ability sections of the Question Paper. As for the technical section, I took the feedback from my seniors and prepared only 2-3 chapters from where Bajaj written rounds are known to take questions from.
Interview Tips
Spend more time practicing Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal ability sections for the written round as the Technical section comprises of questions from final year syllabus too, so, the amount of effort required to attempt all questions in Technical section will be much more than that required for the QA and VA sections.
Round 2

Group Discussion

Interview Experience
I attended some GD sessions of T.I.M.E. coaching institute for some practice. The students of our branch also formed a GD group of our own (headed by Malay Milan Choudhury) and used to have regular practice on topics pertaining to current affairs
Interview Tips
Form GD groups with your friends and have regular discussions on current affairs topics. This will go a long way in improving your English fluency.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
First of all, I took feedback from my seniors, previously placed at Bajaj, as to what questions the HR’s usually ask and to which areas they concentrate more. With the guidance of my elder sister, I prepared answers for generic questions like- “Tell us something about yourself”, “Why should we hire you”etc. But the most important practice is public speaking- one must talk with people in English on a regular basis- this helps you talk to the HR’s fluently and reduces anxiety levels on the day, and I got ample opportunity for that due to my involvement in various clubs
Interview Tips
Start by taking feedback from your seniors and online forums about the written and PI rounds of the concerned company & Prepare answers for generic questions like- “Tell us something about yourself”, “Why should we hire you”, “what are your strengths and weaknesses” etc.  Do whatever it is that calms your nerves before any round. Nervousness must be avoided. This reduces the chances of making silly mistakes and black-out

    Skill Tips
The placement coordinators have done an exemplary job this time around and many more companies, some of which had stopped recruiting from NIT Rourkela, have turned up as recruiters this time around. The T&P cell has conducted sessions on GD and PI rounds, but Ibelieve that they should be conducted on a more frequent basis (can be introduced as a course, or made compulsory for all final years or any other way to ensure more participation from students) to ensure realistic improvement.
    General Tips
There wasn’t much guidance from the T&P in terms of how to go about preparing for the GD and PI rounds. We had to resort to online forums, help from seniors and discussions within our own branch to learn the tricks of the trade. The guidance I received from my elder sister was one of the main reasons why I bagged a job offer in the first company I appeared for
    Motivation for applying
No, I am not satisfied with the company I am placed in. I really believe that with the talent pool we have in our Mechanical Engg. Dept. of NIT Rourkela, the students, at least some percentage of it, should be getting better job offers from world renowned companies.

    Test Sections
    • Section 1: Verbal
    • Section 2: Quant
    • Section 3: Logical Reasoning
    • Section 4: Domain
    Interview Experience
    First 3 sections were regular.
Domain had questions from materials, thermodynamics, machining etc. however all areas were covered.
    Interview Tips
Practice aptitude to make first 3 sections smoother.
Some domain questions are general, guess by sense.
    Round 2

    HR + Technical Interview

    Interview Experience
Interviewers were cool, asked how's the day been.
    1) You and your background.
    2) Why BAJAJ auto?
    3) Tell us something interesting in your Projects
    4) How does a spark plug work?
    5) What is the order of voltage in spark plug?
    6) What do you know of automotive industry?

My peers were asked questions about bike weight, horsepower, weight of Boeing, design gear/spring, power consumption in India etc.
    Interview Tips
I believe they look for people interested in automobile.
Be thorough on your project and practical aspects of it (e.g. typical values of common features, like dimension of a part )
For some questions they just test logical thinking.
Having project on automobile engineering may help.

    Bajaj Auto Get interview

    Interview Process
    Test Other Interview
    Round 1

    Test

    No. of Questions
    40 questions
    Test Sections
    • Section 1: Mechanical Engineering questions
    • Section 2: General and math aptitude
    Interview Experience
There is a MCQ test of about 40 questions I think in which half the questions are Mechanical Engineering knowledge while the other half is general and math aptitude. The main problem in this test is that there are negatives if you get the question wrong due to which you should tread very carefully. Here, I would like to note that the Mechanical Engineering part can be quite hard if you are unprepared. But the general aptitude questions, while not very easy, are nothing out of the ordinary. So, my suggestion would be to seriously attempt the aptitude questions andspend lesser time on the Mechanical Engineering questions.
    Round 2

    Other Interview

    Interview Experience
Around 20 people are selected for the interview round from around 120 who write the test. There is only 1 round of interviews for Bajaj from which they take around 5 people (thesenumbers have remained about the same for a few years). The interview itself will be based onwhat area of Mechanical Engineering, as chosen by you, is your strength. Alternatively theymight quiz you on your summer projects. In my case however, almost the entire interview wasbased on my work in NITKRacing. And from my experience as well as from what I heard fromothers, being a part of any wing of NITKRacing is a big positive especially for Bajaj.

      Skill Tips
Some aptitude question a day or two before the test day could help shed some of the rust that you might have accumulated. As far as Mechanical Engineering knowledge goes, there is nothing much you can do in the last few days. You should either have an excellent memory or have been preparing for placements for quite some time.
      General Tips
Nothing much to say except not underestimate your chances of getting into the company in question. This confidence of yours could reflect in the interview.
      Motivation for applying
Bajaj was the first company to come for placements for Mechanical Engineering students just a week after vacations. Hence there was barely any time to settle down and prepare in any way. Also, it has one of the shortest recruiting procedures with just 1 round each of interview and test. So, it all got over quite quickly for me to realize. But the one overwhelming experience was of anxiety, especially when you clear the test that you did not expect yourself to. If you got from 120 to 20 students unexpectedly, you are EXTREMELY anxious to get to that lucky 5 so that you don't have to go through all that again, which fortunately, is what happened.

      Round 1

      Test

      Test Sections
      • Section 1: Quant
      • Section 2: Technical
      Interview Experience
Quant Round consisted of time work distance and time problems.
      Also had some logic questions.

Technical round consisted of questions on transistors, FETs, Shockley equation based, boolean logic, Circuit and power ratings,(theoretical values).
      Interview Tips
Study e cad well for Bajaj. They asked about chopper amplifiers and op amps to a few of the other candidates and hope that you get interviewed early because by the end of the day the interviewer usually makes up his mind and it becomes difficult (not impossible) to convince your worth.
      Round 2

      Interview Questions
      • Question 1: Do you have any post grad plans?
      • Question 2: Give color coding of resistors.

        Round 2

        HR Interview

        Interview Experience
HR + Technical Interview14 students were shortlisted for interview after the written round. As soon as I entered the room, I went straight to interviewers and shook hands and wished them. They smiled and said I was the first one to do so. Then they asked me to introduce myself. After that, they asked me to come up with my favourite subject other than the managment subjects, to which I responded I.C Engines. Then they put up various questions of I.C. Engines. They asked me to draw diesel cycle. After I had drawn the same, they asked me to show compression ratio in it. They further asked some questions about piston rings, combustion chamber, spark plug and some related to bearings such as types of bearings and how to design them. Then they asked me about ABS technology. Among the various questions asked, I was able to answer around 60% of questions correctly and the questions which I couldn't answer, they were correcting me up. Then they asked me If I would like to put up any query, to which I responded by asking about the city where they would be placing us .
        Interview Tips
One must have the basic knowledge of the core subjects . In almost every company they ask for your favourite subject so prepare one subject thoroughly. Prepare a detailed explanation of your projects that you had done. Keep a smiling face throughout your interview :-D.
