• Question 2: Suppose there is an unsorted array. What will be the maximum window size, such that when u sort that window size, the whole array becomes sorted. Eg, 1 2 6 5 4 3 7 . Ans: 4 (6 5 4 3)
Interview Experience
He went
mentioned Android a couple of times in CV) I explained him how a basic app is
made with model (XML) and layout (Java). He told me about connector which
connects model to layout. Then he asked the two questions. For second ques, I gave a N square approach (dynamic).
He suggested a greedy approach of Order N. It was fitting most cases so I wrote
the code on greedy approach. Turned out, greedy wasn’t the solution anyway.
Doesn’t matter. (Note: Boss is always right!!!)

I was interviewed on-campus for Software developer role at Adobe Systems
Interview Process
Round 1
Interview Experience
1) Initially we had elimination round which was conducted in two sessions. It was an online test.1a) In Session 1, general aptitude and C-aptitude questions were asked.1b) Session 2 involved coding. Seven questions were asked.NOTE : Adobe was open to B.Tech and M.Tech students of CSE and IT department. The cutoff was 7.5.1c) For the elimination round around 200 students gave the test. 15 students were shortlisted for the interviews.

2) The interviews consisted of 4 rounds - 3 Tech rounds and 1 HR round.2a) In the first round, I was asked about pointers in detail. Several questions involving pointers were thrown at me. This all required basic understanding of pointers. Also some puzzles were also asked in this round.2b) I had HR interview in the second round. It was a very friendly interview. Few simple logic questions were asked. And later much of the discussion was focused on my internship.2c) Third round was a tech round. In this round, much focus was laid on operating systems. The interviewer asked me to explain how virtual memory works in detail. He also gave me a live scenario and asked me to explain how the scenario works.2d) Fourth round was again a tech round. Here a few data structure questions were asked like finding a solution with lesser time complexity etc. Most of the students went through all the 4 rounds. The results were announced next day. 3students were given the job offer.

Round 2

### Technical Interview

Interview Questions
• Question 1: How do you implement naming of threads from the point of view of a multi-threaded OS.Implement rand5 using rand7.Implement functions to render circles and other figures. (This was mainly about my development attitude and object oriented design rather than my algorithm skills)
• Question 2: How does free know how many memory blocks to delete in the case of arrays.
• Question 3: Some questions on finding the errors in the programs. Some questions on stacks, linked lists, queues and sorting.

### Preparation materials

Books
• Cracking the coding interview,
• Wu riddles (for general out-of-the box thinking),
• CLRS,
General Tips
If you want to bag a top company, it’s all about data structures, data structure & data structures. Just be sharp and attentive during the interview. If you don't know the answer just RELAX (very important) and start bouncing ideas of the interviewer, they're here to see how well you can solve not how well you remember. And be ready with copies of your resume and proper formal clothes at ALL times till you'replaced. Interviews are very subjective. Make the interviewer believe that you can manage any job givento you. That's the most important thing. Be confident even if your solution has a few flaws that you know.

3 Rounds of Technical (Approximately 1 hour each) :No eliminations
Assesses Problem Solving and Coding skills. Identification of all possible sub-cases in every problem is required. The code should have no end-conditions unless specified. No blind assumptions are to be made. Understanding of Data Structures is important. Questions like 'Find the next larger number in a full binary search tree implemented using array within Constant Time', 'Find the next larger palindrome of a given no', one OOP based question, one string operation question. Asked about the Projects/ Internships done - experience and the details of the work.
Round 3

### HR Interview

### Test

Test Sections
• Section 1: Written Test
Interview Experience
There a written test having an Aptitude and a Technical part for all CSE and ECE students with CGPA above 7.0. At the end of it 4 members were selected for the personal interviews. Each of us had 4 rounds of interviews. The pattern of interviews I had was HR, followed by a technical, then a HR + technical sort taken by a manager from Adobe and finally another technical. At the end of the interviews 3 of us were selected.
Round 2

### Interview

Interview Experience
Some of the questions asked were : 1) Given an array and a Number N find all sets of 2 numbers that add up to N. Started with O(n^2) then went onto O(N) solution using i) hashing ii) O(N) using sorted array. 2) Given a dictionary (Can be traversed linearly from the first) and a word, find all legal permutations of the word. 3) I have a clock at the bottom of a hill giving me correct time, and one on top of the hill which is not working, how can I synchronize the 2 clocks, time taken to go up is more than it takes to come down. 4) What are heaps, threads, Pthreads, have you done Pthread programming, what programs ? 5) Write a class for Stack considering all loop-holes and error conditions? 6) Give a program to print a string in reverse using simplest solution possible. 7) Divide an L-shaped area into 2, 3, 4 equal parts. Divide a square into 7 equal parts. A few more were asked that I do not remember, which were on the same lines as above.
Round 3

### Interview

Interview Experience
HR was more of an ice-breaker for me. The interviewer asked me simple questions like : 1) Tell me about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses. 2) Tell me about your family. 3) Will you prefer a job or higher studies ? Why not GRE ? 4) Why did you prefer Noida over Bangalore ? 5) What are your long-term future goals ? 6) Goals for next 5 years ?

The test got delayed and was shifted to 2 in the afternoon. After giving the test, I generally used to go to room and slept for sometime until the results for short listed candidates are out.
Round 2

### Interview

Interview Experience
Got selected for interviews and had the first interview at 11:00 in the night. The interviewer was pretty cool and helpful, after a 10 mins discussion on intern project, we went ahead with some coding exercise to convert a number into hexadecimal and print it. He figured out bugs in the code and made me correct them. Talked about various operating systems concept like Memory Management and some algorithmic questions on Binary Search Tree. He asked a simple trivial puzzle as well. The interview went on for 40 mins and next was scheduled at 12:30 am..!!
Round 3

### Interview

Interview Experience
The lady who took the interview asked a well known puzzle on clock and then she asked me about my GRE score. Then was the time that I converted the Tech interview into HR interview. Gave her fundaes about why core job now and she was impressed.JDuring that time, students who couldn't clear for the next round were sent to room and I was asked to wait. That gave a hint that either it would be another interview or I am selected. Waited and the last interview was scheduled at 2:45 am in the night. Got pretty tired by that time and couldn’t even solve a simple coding problem. The interviewer laughed saying probably its late night issue. Then we just had a talk on BTP and some stuff on Hashing algorithms and we were done. The results were announced and I got placed. The day was mine or better to say the night was mine.
